Learning abilities in songbirds

Article reads: Birds share many characteristics with humans. Unlike our fellow mammals, which learn about the world primarily by sniffing crotches, birds and humans have excellent colour sight, are highly auditory and some groups possess superior vocal learning abilities. Thus birds — especially songbirds and parrots — are the most important teachers that we have, particularly for scientists who study higher cognitive processes such as vocal learning and memory.
